Mark Harman, broker and co-owner of Harman Realty, has been a successful realtor since he began his career over 30 years ago. Mark and his wife, Deb, have been blessed with two daughters. Lindsey, a Luther College graduate, resides in Decorah, Iowa with her husband, Andrew Wood, also a Luther grad. They are the proud parents of little Ezra! Andrea resides in Scottsdale, Arizona where she is a cosmetologist.

Mike graduated from Luther College in 1987 with a degree in business and economics. He started full-time at Decorah State Bank in June of 1987. Very early in Mike's bank career he became a mortgage lender, a profession he truly loved. "I have always enjoyed working with people, and in my time at the bank, nothing was more satisfying than helping a family purchase their dream home." He then went on to become president/manager of the Community First branches of Decorah, Protivin and Mabel. "Leadership is not easy, but I found it very rewarding. I tried to involve many in the process with the common vision being a proactive focus on the client." After nineteen years at the bank (Decorah State Bank/ Community First National Bank/ Bank of the West), Mike decided to pursue other avenues.

"We knew that Decorah was the place we wanted to be, and working with people was a necessity. The time was right for me to make a change. Mark and I had many discussions over the years about working together in Real Estate. I consider myself lucky to be able to work with someone I have had great respect for and consider a mentor."

Mike and his family have a strong love for the Decorah community. "Northeast Iowa is the closest thing to Colorado in the Midwest. We are not only blessed with scenic beauty, but the people are great as well." Mike's involvement includes: Treasurer of Winneshiek County Development, Decorah Jobs Board Member, Decorah Betterment Board Member, Chamber member, St. Ben's Banquet of Blessing's Committee, and Chair-Person of the Trout Run Trail Fundraiser. "Working with others to assure Decorah continues to be vibrant and a main economic hub is a great motivational force." Mike also served six years on the St. Ben's School Board, 2 of those years as board president.

Mike and his wife Sandy have three children; Tyler who is married to Sarah and lives in Urbandale Iowa, Ben a junior at Iowa, and Emily a senior at Decorah High School.
